Natural Cellulite Remedy
Japanese Gua Sha Scraping Technique
By:Catherine Browne, L.Ac., MH, Dipl.Ac.

Cellulite refers to the common occurrence of dimpled
skin from subcutaneous fat that is common in women.
Cellulite is more common in women than men because
of the way that connective tissue, muscle and fat are
developed in women; it is also suspected that
estrogen, along with other hormones, promotes the
production of cellulite. One hormone that increases the
tendency of cellulite to develop is catecholamines;
catecholamines are more abundant with chronic stress
and anxiety.

While proper lifestyle practices are always a good idea for sustainable health, cellulite is not definitively attributed to obesity or lack of exercise. Cellulite is thought to have a connection to genetic disposition and water metabolism. The natural herbs in Placid Pond Formula are known to enhance the body’s ability to regulate water metabolism and lymph flow in the body, thus aiding in the effort to naturally reduce cellulite.

In Chinese medicine, many disease processes are contributed to Qi stagnation; this is when the vital energy in your body is not moving and causes pain or disease. Toxins accumulating in body tissue is one common cause of Qi stagnation. Qi animates us and insures that blood and body fluids flow freely throughout our bodies. This formula is artfully balanced with the best herbs used traditionally to reduce cellulite, remove cellular toxins, and help dispel Qi stagnation.

Patients in clinic are instructed to use Gua Sha
Japanese scraping technique using our Lymphatic
Drainage Cream along with this formula for dramatic
cellulite reduction results. "Gua Sha" translates to
"scraping". There are Gua Sha tools available on the
market, but a simple plastic lid with a straight edge
will work. Make sure that whatever tool you use for
scraping the skin is smooth and will not tare the skin.
Simply apply the Lymphatic Drainage Cream and
scrape in the direction that the Qi energy flows in the
meridians of the legs until the skin becaomes very
pink (approximately 5 minutes or so on each leg);
downward on the back and inside of legs and
buttocks; up on the outside of legs.

Patients experience a noticable reduction in cellulite
within a few months utilizing this technique.
